The Lesson Horses IV
What better way to learn to ride than on a horse schooled to teach?
This Cowgirl’s Dun (Cowgirl)
This
pro trained paint mare was bred for and raised by our very own
Nicole Presley. When Lori first saw this mare as little, tiny,
baby five years ago it was love at first sight. Lori knew
that if Nicole would ever part with this mare, she just had to
have her. When Cowgirl came to our barn for a short stay due
to a local flood she simply never left...proving to Lori that
dreams do come true! Cowgirl is available to select intermediate
and advanced riders in the lesson program.
Tuffy Doc Eddie (Nash)
This
chestnut came to Pierce Farms and soon began to excel as an important
member of the lesson program. Affectionately known as ‘Nacho’,
he is a former roper and was a favorite of the owner of the ranch.
The only reason he was sold was because the trainer’s daughter,
Courtney fell in love with him and had to have him. Update
1-1-08: Pierce Farms is currently looking
for a home for Nash as a companion type horse. He has suffered
an injury that no longer allows him to be ridden at much more
than a walk.
Oh So Impressed (Ollie)
The
one that started it all…. Ollie horse was purchased by
Kelly (sight unseen) in 1991. He and Kelly showed for the next
4 years together winning many western pleasure ribbons. Finances
forced Kelly to sell Ollie when she became pregnant with her
daughter. Kelly was heartbroken over this decision. Shortly after
her daughters birth Ollie’s new owners contacted her and
asked for her help and offered her the use of the horse for her
own business in exchange for lessons for themselves. After about
2 years the owners moved away taking Ollie with them. Kelly was
heartbroken as she had lost contact with Ollie again. Another
two years went by. One day Kelly received a call the Ollie had
just walked off a trailer in Nellie Gail. Kelly was thrilled
and told the new owner that if he ever wanted to sell to please
call her. That is exactly what he did two years later. Kelly
purchased Ollie and vowed to him that he would be with her for
the rest of his life. The trainer is not supposed to have a favorite
lesson horse. Oh well this trainer does. Ollie took Kelly places
in the show ring and now he is teaching others to show. Kelly
says "Rarely is a gift given to a person twice in their
life. This is the third time Ollie has entered mine. He is truly
a gift" Ollie left our lives in June 2007 as a result
of a severe colic. May he rest in peace.
